Stencil Up - Wednesday 4th August at 9am

"Stencil Up began in 2015, producing large repeating pattern stencils to decorate walls. Stencilling is a great alternative to wallpaper, as it is not only cost-effective, it is also kind to the environment with minimal waste and only a tiny amount of paint being used.

Over the last 6 years, the range has grown to include smaller craft stencils which are perfect for upcycling furniture and smaller craft projects. The range is growing weekly, responding to current and future trends in interiors.

"Recently we have developed a range of wooden adhesive products for furniture and walls, and our Christmas Craft kits utilising our stencil designs are proving popular with crafters and furniture painters.

Stencil Up is committed to developing as a sustainable brand. We cut to order to minimise excess stock. Our stencils are cut from Grade A Mylar which is fully recyclable, easy to use and clean, so the stencils can be used repeatedly. The 250-micron thickness is robust and suitable for painting and 3d stencilling with plaster and texture pastes."

Felicity Ink - Sunday 8th August at 1pm

"Created by Illustrator & Designer Joy-Louise Waterman, Felicity & Ink is an illustrated goods and design studio based in London. Each of the products on sale is made up of her own unique, hand drawn illustrations. All products started their life as lovingly hand drawn sketches probably in Joy-Louise’s sketchbook, which have been expertly digitally reproduced and printed in the UK to create the highest quality, beautiful items.

You’ll find her intricate, nature and bohemian inspired illustrations on printed goods and stationery such as stickers that you can colour in yourself and use to adorn your own projects. Teaching others how to draw and create is a big part of the work that goes on at Felicity & Ink, through online tutorials and now through tutorial books. There are a wide variety of books to choose from, teaching you how to draw flowers, critters, foliage, bohemian and celestial doodles. They’re the ultimate easy to follow, step by step drawing tutorial books.

Felicity & Ink as a business started to become a reality around 2019, after years of sharing my hand drawn illustrations and artwork on Instagram. I’m Joy-Louise by the way, creator of Felicity & Ink. All of my products have been created using my own illustrations and are all produced and packaged by my own hand - making Felicity & Ink a one woman super small business. It has always been my dream to create my own illustration brand, where I can offer a whole range of products that I've dreamt up, while adding a bit of sunshine to peoples day! So I'm so excited to be here on The Craft Store selling a selection of my items that I hope will inspire you to add a touch of illustration to your projects, or even learn how to draw yourself and create an endless array of artwork."

Artistry by Lisa Marie - Saturday 17th July 2021 at 7pm

"My professional artistic training began early. As a teenager, I studied under the tutelage of a local artist who introduced me to the drafting techniques of the Renaissance masters. From these lessons, I knew I wanted to learn more about these amazing artists and hone my own skills. Eventually I moved to Florence, Italy, where I earned my M.A. in Art History while diligently developing my artistic abilities. I opened my studio “Artistry By Lisa Marie” in 2011. My customers also inspired me to begin making coloring pages! I often heard other people say “Oh I could never be so artistic or creative.” So I created my first coloring book pages to encourage my customers to release their inner artist. The grayscale coloring pages became so popular I created more…and more…and more!"

CoraCreaCrafts - Saturday 26th June - 3:00pm

"I'm Coralie, a Swiss expat living in Illinois, US, and a passionate crafter.

3 years ago I decided to learn some calligraphy and lettering online and opened an Instagram account shortly after to share some of my work. Instagram is how I discovered journaling and paper crafting, through countless inspiring accounts and a very active community.

I quickly found that I loved to gather and use paper crafting supplies like washi tapes, stickers and stamps, but that the one style I especially liked - this vintage, retro style - was not easy to find. This is how my small shop started, with the idea of sourcing special unique vintage style items on one platform."

Solway Woolscapes - Wednesday 16th June - 9:00am

"To me it is important that we support the farmers as I live in a rural area. I am a member of the Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers and crafts are important to me as is the need to share my passion for felting. I feel, especially these days, that it is good for peoples mental state to be able to lose themselves in creating something. One of the comments that I get from people (and I think this is true of any crafter!) is that they feel they do not have an artisitc bone in their body therefore they couldn't possibly tackle any sort of craft. This is where the type of felting that I do comes into its own. The fleece is hand dyed so within it is an amazing collesction of colours,It is tactile so even holding a handful of soft fleece feels good and the designs are far simpler than they look. Needlefelting is one of the easiest cratfs to learn and has very few boundaries in terms of age or ability. I source my fleece locally from fellow guild members who have sheep, the local animal sanctuary and from the local farmer who has sheep on the fields next to me."

Blooming Adorable – Wednesday 26th May at 9am

"It all started with a bunch of silk flowers, pulling them apart and playing with the idea of how I could create my own floral arrangements, create different effects. How to make it in bud or full flower and how to get the best out of them. The beauty of my kits is that they give you the opportunity to play you are not confined to an arrangement you are free to create. Flowers are beautiful and these will last you forever. Schedule Change: Craftalong with Lesley April 2020

Following the announcement by the Prime Minister and the request to eliminate all but essential contact and travel, we are implementing further measures to protect the health and wellbeing of our staff and suppliers. It is for this reason that the April Craftalong with Chocolate Baroque will be deferred until such a time that the Government lifts travel restrictions and Hochanda feels it is safe to bring suppliers back into the studio to commence filming again. This is not a decision that has been made lightly and we can guarantee that the Craftalong will be rearranged for a later date. Those of you that have already purchased your kit, we thank you and implore you to continue to support us in this decision. Further details will be released as they become available. Please bear with us over the weeks to come and through the challenging times ahead. We are doing everything we can to continue our broadcast and to bring you lots of interesting shows to watch while staying at home. As you can imagine, this is not easy, but our hardworking staff are committed to keeping Hochanda a safe environment for all. Thank you for your ongoing support and well wishes, please stay safe at home and do share with us the crafty projects that are keeping you busy! Hochanda x

Hochanda Schedule Change Due to current events

We wanted to update you with the further precautionary measures we are taking to support the national effort to slow the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19). Following yesterday’s announcement by the Prime Minister and the request to eliminate all but essential contact and travel, we are implementing further measures to protect the health and wellbeing of our staff and suppliers. With immediate effect from today, our live broadcast hours will be reduced to 7am-7pm to ensure we have only the minimum production staff on-site and in the studios. From Thursday morning and until further notice, we will no longer have guests travelling to the studios to demonstrate their products. Instead, our presenters will be working completely alone in our studio’s and we will be bringing you demonstrations from our guests directly from their homes (removing the need for them to travel). Please bear with us over the weeks to come and through the challenging times ahead when our shows may not always run as smoothly as usual. Best wishes Hochanda x

COVID-19 Announcement

At Hochanda we have been closely monitoring the evolving Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation and we continue to follow the advice issued by HM Government and World Health Organisation. The health of our customers, staff, suppliers and families is of top priority to us and we are implementing a number of proactive measures as a result. We will soon have many of our operational staff homeworking and we will be reducing the number of staff at our offices and studios to minimise any risk of spread to both them and to our valued suppliers during their visits to our studios. At this stage our aim is to continue to bring you live shows throughout the day as scheduled over the coming weeks and months and we are working hard to ensure that our daily broadcast remains unaffected. With the situation evolving each day, we are not yet sure if any of our delivery services or suppliers will be affected but will of course endeavour to keep you updated. Please take care of yourselves and of each other through this tough time and we hope that you can continue to enjoy our shows in good health. Best wishes, The Hochanda Family

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Rachel Pierman. She’s the newest member to join our presentation team and we’re delighted to be bringing her to your screens on January 9th. With 27 years’ experience in the world of television, she has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry. “I’ve been presenting on television for about 27 years, but two of my favourite years in front of the camera were working for another craft channel. I loved the sense of community, the fun, the creativity I witnessed daily and the amazingly talented guests. When that came to an end in the summer, I decided to start a company. It’s a place where people from that community could come and craft together in luxury environments. I’m loving seeing it thrive and grow and I have big plans for the future.. but lately I’ve missed being in front of a camera and working with lovely crafty people on a daily basis. Now I get the best of both worlds, working with this fabulous channel Hochanda and continuing to develop my new company! I’m so lucky! Can’t wait to see you all on air and hopefully meet you very soon!” - Rachel Pierman

Quote from Julia Watts

“I am beside myself and very happy to be returning to Hochanda. I am looking forward to once again working with my friend Phill and the rest of the Sentimentally Yours team along with IndigoBlu. Phill is developing his company to bring in mediums which suit my crafting and it was an easy decision to make when Phill asked me to join his team. Working with Trudie’s designs provides something different and an equally exciting opportunity as they offer a funkier and more modern style which shows how Sentimentally Yours are branching out to new audiences by combining their traditions with modern trends. Working with IndigoBlu is another bonus. Having attended one of Kay’s Dirty Weekends, I was so impressed with the quality of their products and since Phill knows Kay very well this proved to be an ideal company to work alongside. Using these products will be a learning curve for me but one that I look forward to.”

Quote from Phill Martin, Sentimentally Yours

“I am very excited; this strengthens the commitment Sentimentally Yours has shown to Hochanda by expanding the product range even further into new and exciting areas. Sentimentally Yours share the friend and family ethos which Hochanda was built upon and having Julia, a longtime friend and colleague join the team, reinforces this. Julia’s return is just the start of what is going to be an exciting time for the Sentimentally Yours team. With the support of Hochanda our product range will become more diverse and enable us to reach a wider audience. We love working with the channel as does Julia.”

Quote from Kay Halliwell-Sutton, IndigoBlu

“Alfie and I are absolutely delighted to have Julia Watts join our IndigoBlu family. Julia is a well-known and respected talent with vast technical knowledge. As we also work with our friend, Phill Martin, it is a great opportunity for all of us to collaborate. We have a great relationship with Hochanda and with their help IndigoBlu will continue to be the market leaders in Mixed Media innovation. Julia is joining our family at an opportune time as we continue to develop new and creative products for the Hochanda audience and IndigoBlu fans. Jenny Eclair reviews the Hochanda Watercolour Challenge

29th January 2019

Thanks then to the Marie Curie charity who offered myself and fellow arty-type, presenter Penny Smith, an opportunity to do a watercolour masterclass, filmed for a TV craft channel to raise funds for palliative care. For the first time in my 58 years, I decided to do what I was told, just to see if it made any difference – as if I actually listened to a teacher and slavishly followed their instructions. We were painting a lake with hills in the background and the Marie Curie daffodils in the foreground. Everything our tutor did I copied, every piece of advice he gave I listened to and put into practice. I became the ultimate class swot – and did it reap rewards? Yes, dammit, my little painted postcard sized lake view is almost worth framing. (Actually it is worth framing and my mum’s getting it whether she likes it or not...) Read the full article now!
